German police say three women were killed on a golf course when lightning struck a shelter they fled to during a violent thunderstorm.
Police in the central German town of Korbach said a fourth woman was critically injured in the incident Friday.
Spokesman Dirk Virnich said the women – local residents aged between 41 and 67 – had been playing golf before they fled to the small wooden shelter.
Virnich gave no further information on the victims’ identities in line with German privacy laws.
